Mastering the Sense of Security of Women

TBD - UFW ex women staffers, Indian Health Center Staff and more

How we treat women's issues - hunger, poverty, childbearing, and feminized activities in societies - is a critical challenge in our movements. This session highlights the struggles women and girls continue to face, and will discusses how to resist duplicating these prblems in our movements. One example is the impressive response to the series of violations Cesar Chavez committed against women in the UFW, and the changing approach to addressing misogyny within the movement. Another is the missing and murdered indigenous people crisis report issued by Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley, whose findings identify the human crisis in our indigenous populations in the Bay Area. Many of those surveyed had a relative missing, murdered or trafficked in the last year. Insecurity and violence tool kits are available to help, and we need to spaces to discuss the security of girls and women.
