On Violence

Jessica Lawless, Josh Fernandez

Violence takes many forms and carries different meanings depending on who wields it and who gets to define it. Drawing from social movements, punk culture, queer life, labor struggles, and lived experience, PM Press authors Jessica Lawless and Josh Fernandez will examine violence as a political strategy, gendered performance, and social force. Through discussion and readings from their work, they will explore the complex ways in which violence can shape leftist resistance and everyday life. (Bonus of low-key participatory self-defense exercises).
