People Over the Prison Industrial Complex: Assemblies and the Fight for Abolition

In a period of rising fascism, fighting the prison industrial complex—the tip of fascism’s spear—is essential. In this session Yarrow Institute will reflect on lessons learned from a year-long People’s Movement Assembly (PMA) process aimed at strengthening the movement to dismantle the prison industrial complex. This workshop will help participants understand how to use PMAs as tools of power building and self-governance. Participants will learn about the PMA process, lessons learned, the propositions that were developed, and how to use the propositions to fuel the fight to abolish the prison industrial complex.
